TweetSuite Links Conversations Between Blogs and Twitter

I've been observing Dan Zarrella's work from a distance for some time and this is the first post dedicated to his work. However, he is someone whom I also hope to collaborate with in the near-term.

Zarrella recently announced TweetSuite, a plugin for WordPress that integrates tweetback functionality into blogs. Much in the same way that trackbacks or linkbacks showcase inbound blogs linking to respective posts, tweetbacks monitor and display individual tweets that also feature links to specific blog content.

TweetSuite also offers the ability for people to directly tweet the post from your blog as well as retweet (RT) the specific tweets listed in the tweetback directory.

The suite provides several widget options to showcase most-tweeted posts, recently-tweeted, and the most favorited tweets.

It's the seamless fusion between the blogosphere and twitterville, tying conversations across two of the most prominent properties defining the Social Web.

Zarrella's work is poignant as it is timely. The conversation continues to migrate and evolve beyond the blogosphere and Twitter is the catalyst for the organic and rapidly multiplying interaction within micro communities. Facebook, FriendFeed, among others are also fueling the proliferation of distributed conversations and tools such as TweetSuite centralize dispersed dialog into one central location for context and perspective.

Nice post. Twitter is a great tool, in particular it is in real-time and not stagnant as Facebook, Linkedin, Perfect Networker and other sites are. For me, I love it. It is a great site if you understand:
1. it is free - there will be slow days.
2. You love to converse or just watch the show
3. You are not an MLMer or IMer and just trying to sell your soul for a connection to make a buck.

I have been introduced to many unbelieveable blogs from Twtitter. I am starting my own next week on Wordpress.org just because I want the plug-ins and the ability have discussions with my readership.

Nice Post - I do want to mention, I am following you on Twitter for the moment and I will proabably not follow you after Monday. My attitude following:

If you are trying to create a micro-community then follow those that help make you successful. You have over 12K and only follow under 200 - that doesn't track for me on level - seems counter-productive for you as you could have many more like Chris Brogan, Guy Kawasaki and many others. Now if you aren't trying to create micro-community to help your readership grow, then you are doing the right thing - 12k is a decent number - I just think you could be so much more and reach many others if you spent a little time helping others too.

Just my humble opinion.

Hey Jan, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Good luck on your blog...it's a great and powerful tool for increasing social capital and honing and nurturing expertise.

Re: Twitter, I follow over 700 people, not less than 200. The difference between me and say someone following 30,000 is that I actually listen and learn from the 700 (and growing) people that I follow. Others simply read and respond to the tweets that include @theirtwittername.

Do NOT use TweetSuite, it will slow down your blog!

It is written improperly. It attempts to use the tr.im bookmarklet to shorten the URL (indeed the author didn't even have the courtesy to use the tr.im API). API like traffic for tr.im must use the API, that is what it is there for. Additionally it wouldn't work even if he had written it improperly because he doesn't understand how some URL shorteners such as tr.im work.

The author has refused to fix his wordpress plugin and remove tr.im. As a result tr.im is banning any traffic coming from a blog using this plugin. This will slow down your pageloads for several seconds before it times out on its connection to tr.im.
