Alltop Aggregates Influential Voices Across the Web

I was alerted earlier by good friend Todd Defren, that I have been included in the Alltop index of top sites on the Web.

Wow, thank you! I don't know what to say. It's a pretty incredible group of voices and I'm more than flattered to be included.

So, allow me to officially introduce Guy Kawasaki's latest startup, Alltop.

Like POPURLs, Alltop aggregates stories from “all the top” sites on the Web. They’ve grouped these collection into individual Alltop sites based on topics such as celebrity gossip, fashion, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, and tech. At each Alltop site, the latest five stories are displayed from thirty or more sites on a single page, sort of like a custom-built RSS-feed page built on Netvibes.

Basically, the Alltop site is a “dashboard” or “table of contents” for your favorite topics as voiced by those who are most actively discussing them.

According to the site, "The bottom line is that we are trying to enhance your online reading by both displaying stories from the sites that you’re already visiting and unveiling stories from sites that you didn’t know existed."

At the very least, it introduces people to the ability to stay connected to storytellers and newsmakers without having to know a thing about RSS. It's a good first step that will familiarize them with the ability to aggregate content and later jump to, say Netvibes, to recreate a central hub that allows them to define and stay connected to their own personal "a-list."

Other voices include:

Fake Steve Jobs, Robert Scoble, Dave Winer, Guy Kawasaki, Seth Godin, Jeremiah Owyang, Teresa Valdez Klein, Jason Calacanis, Michael Arrington, Charlene Li, Tara Hunt, Doc Searls, Fred Wilson, Chris Brogan, Tim O'Reilly, Jason Kottke, John Gruber, Ze Frank, Chris Anderson, Marc Andreessen, Chris Messina, James Hong, Shel Israel, Jonathan Schwartz, Mark Cuban, Tom Peters, Marc Canter, Brian Oberkirch, Paul Kedrosky, Evan Williams, David Armano, Walt Mossberg, David Weinberger, and Nick Denton.

Congrats Brian
Guy chooses wisely---this is well deserved.

Yesterday I had a great time interviewing Guy about Alltop. He shared his thoughts, goals, concerns about this deceptively simple site.

An exclusive video of Guy's Alltop interview for ValleyZen is here:

Brian, you deserve to be on Alltop. I appreciate your work and viewpoints. You and Jeremiah were my top picks when Guy asked me about my favorite Big Blog Personalities. I know that there are many A-List influencers who are deserving. I just think you have this natural ability to keep it honest and real and it doesn't go unnoticed.
